The South West Branch of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) is running a conference on Characterisation: making sense of place, in Bristol on 20 September 2013, 9.30am to 4.30pm.  The cost for IHBC members is £38 and for non-members is £48.  Characterisation is a concept for understanding place, and the conference will look at the practical applications of characterisation, and how it has helped inform development in sensitive areas.  The conference will be held at Circomedia, Portland Square, Bristol BS2 8SJ, which is a centre for contemporary circus and physical theatre in a Grade I listed former church in St Pauls, Bristol.  Further details and booking are on swcc2013.ihbc.org.uk or contact swcc2013@ihbc.org.uk
