The University of Birmingham (Ironbridge Institute) and National Taiwan University have issued a Call for Papers for a major conference in Taipei in 2013 on Heritage, Tourism and Value.  The deadline for abstracts is 5 October 2012. The conference is being run in association with the UNESCO UNITWIN Network on Tourism, Culture and Development and the Centre for Tourism and Cultural Change in the UK.  

Papers are invited from a wide range of perspectives on tourism and cultural heritage.  Potential themes include:

  • understanding tourist experiences of heritage sites - narrative, memory and emotion
  • interpreting and communicating the values of heritage
  • identity building through tangible and intangible heritage
  • regeneration programmes based on heritage
  • heritages of conflict
  • mobile heritage - diasporas, routes and roots

Please send a 300-word abstract of any papers, with a clear title, as soon as possible, but no later than 5 October 2012 to ironbridge@contacts.bham.ac.uk
